A downloadable PixyGoat

Stack a character from 659 hand-drawn LPC parts, watch all fifteen animations while you work, and export finished spritesheets or paper-doll parts your engine can swap at runtime. Everything runs on your own machine, in your own browser. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Read this before you download

PixyGoat is not an application you double-click. It is a small local server and a browser page, which means you need:

  • Node.js 22 or newer, and a terminal to type two commands into.
  • git, for one download that takes about three seconds.
  • About 1.2 GB of disk for the LPC sprites. PixyGoat does not ship them — they were drawn by the LPC community and carry their own licences, so you fetch them from the source. Five to fifteen minutes, once. The app walks you through it and watches the folder while the download runs.

If that is more than you want to deal with, this is not your tool today. The full install is four steps and about ten minutes, most of it spent waiting for sprites: see the README in the repository.

What it does

Every part, filtered to what fits. 659 parts across 6 body types. The catalogue greys out what your body type cannot wear instead of hiding it, and says which body type it belongs to when it collides. Search by name, tag or colour.

Fifteen animations while you work. Walk, run, the four attack sets, climbing, sitting — playing in the preview as you pick, with the frame strip underneath and any facing you like. 15/15 on a tile means the part is drawn for every animation.

Licences you can read. Every part carries a seal: may you sell it, must you credit, must changes stay open. The panel reads your character back to you — the strictest licence on it and what that obliges you to do — and the filter greys out everything whose terms you do not accept, so you can set it once and build without watching the seals.

Exports that keep working.

TargetWhat you get
Unity · paper-doll parts One PNG per slot and animation, plus manifest.json with the grid, frame cycle, frame time and draw order of every page. An importer builds pages, parts, clips and a prefab from it without knowing what LPC is.
Flat spritesheets Every layer composited. One sheet per animation, one universal sheet, or single frames — for prototypes, Tiled, Godot, or any engine without a paper doll.
Character file The selection, no pixels. For loading, sharing and versioning.

Both sheet exports carry character.jsonCREDITS.txt and CREDITS.csv along with the pixels. The credits are written every time, not on request.

English and German, switchable at any time.

Licence, plainly

The tool is under the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0: use it, change it and pass it on for anything noncommercial. Ask first if you want to earn money with PixyGoat itself.

Making a game with it is not earning money with the tool. Sell that game, put it on Steam, do what you like — the licence is about the tool, not about what you make with it.

The art is not mine and not covered by that. Every sprite was drawn by somebody in the LPC community and carries its own licence — CC0, CC-BY, CC-BY-SA, OGA-BY or GPL. PixyGoat ships none of it: the sprites and the sheet definitions both come from the Universal LPC Spritesheet Character Generator onto your own machine, under their own terms, and every export writes the credits next to the files.

Not a condition, only a wish: if PixyGoat helped you make something, a mention of Fossel in your credits is appreciated.
